[English] Introduction: Infections are one of the biggest complications in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) which are of great concern when it comes to the prognosis of the patient. Factors such as social demographics, age and clinical characteristics of the patient can help when analyzing the different types of infections that are more prone to develop in the disease. The treatment for ALL consists of three phases that include induction, consolidation and maintenance. Out of these phases the patients are more vulnerable in the induction phase in which they acquire the most infections since the amount of white blood cells decrease. Methods: This is a retrospective study with the purpose to analyze the most frequent infections that these patients manifest in the Oncology Institute Dr. Heriberto Pieter in the Dominican Republic. The variables that were evaluated consisted of age, sex, cell type, blood cultures, microorganism, and the signs and symptoms at the moment of admission into the hospital. We described quantitative variables by median and the qualitative variables by frequency (percentage). A p <0.05 was considered to indicate a statistically significant difference. Results: Among 20 patients there were 34 episodes of aplasia and 137 cultures evaluated. Gram negative bacteria were the most frequently found, being Pseudomona aeruginosa with 18.5% (n=32) of the positive cultures found. Discussions: Based on the data collected we were able to identify the infections associated with LLA in pediatric patients in IOHP where primarly bacterial.
