[Español] El turismo gastronómico ha ido adquiriendo importancia en República Dominicana, así como en otros países, dinamizando un número considerable de visitantes que viajan motivados por su gastronomía. Boca Chica puede ser considerado un destino con gran potencial para esta modalidad de turismo debido a su relevante patrimonio gastronómico, aunque los estudios académicos efectuados sobre esta temática y sobre destinos concretos son muy escasos en el país. Existen diversos artículos de opinión, que por no estar sustentados en métodos de investigación sistemáticos pueden ser poco precisos. Igualmente, en términos internacionales, la generalidad de los modelos académicos referentes a atracciones turísticas es apartado a un segundo plano, u omite, a la gastronomía como atractivo turístico. El presente proyecto final, analiza y tiene como causa el desarrollo de Boca Chica como destino y su propuesta gastronómica, procurando mostrar la realidad de los destinos donde la gastronomía y el turismo de sol y playa es la atracción turística principal con el objeto de contribuir a un mayor conocimiento sobre el fenómeno que involucra el desplazamiento de visitantes por motivos gastronómicos y sus hermosas playas.
[English] Gastronomic tourism has been gaining importance in the Dominican Republic, as well as in other countries, energizing a considerable number of visitors who travel motivated by its gastronomy. Boca Chica can be considered a destination with great potential for this type of tourism due to its relevant gastronomic heritage, although academic studies on this subject and on specific destinations are very scarce in the country. There are several opinion articles, which, because they are not supported by systematic research methods, can be imprecise. Similarly, in international terms, the generality of academic models referring to tourist attractions is set aside, or omits, to gastronomy as a tourist attraction. This final project analyzes the development of Boca Chica as a destination and its gastronomic proposal, trying to show the reality of destinations where gastronomy and sun and beach tourism is the main tourist attraction in order to contribute to a greater knowledge about the phenomenon that involves the displacement of visitors for gastronomic reasons and its beautiful beaches.
