[English] Adverse childhood experiences have been related to physical and mental health problems, including obesity, diabetes, depression and anxiety. The correlation between emotional regulation and adverse childhood experiences is a connection that has not been studied in depth in the Dominican Republic. The present study seeks the link between emotional regulation and adverse childhood experiences in a population of healthy Dominican adults (n = 129; females 73%; mean age = 24, SD = 9). This research sought to highlight the repercussions that living through traumatic situations can have on an individual's emotional management. Participants completed a virtual form, responding to the difficulties in emotional regulation (DERS) instrument and the second instrument on adverse childhood experiences (CEQ-58). Our hypothesis argues that the more adverse experiences lived in childhood, the greater the difficulty in emotional regulation. A significant correlation was found between adverse childhood experiences and emotional dysregulation, showing a positive relationship. Negative experiences with friends had the highest correlation with respect to emotional dysregulation. In conclusion, the study shows that there is a significant correlation between these two variables.
