This study searched to determine if there are statistically significant differences in the levels of homophobia and transphobia between people who know someone from the LGBTIQ community compared to people who do not know anyone from the community. The results suggest that people who do not know a member of the LGBT community have greater discrimination, as opposed to people who do know a member of the LGBT community. This study may allow more exploration of where sexual orientations go and which ones are better accepted by the Dominican society that does not know a member of the LGBT community.
