Abstract

[English] How does the Dominican identity manifests through interior design? How to design, as Dominicans, outside the traditional representations of Dominican culture? In which way can the contemporary be explored in such extent that contributes to the autochthonous? These questions shed a light in the urgency of a new interpretation of the Dominican identity applied in design, with the intention of building a new vision towards Dominican interiors. It is used as a vehicle, towards a successful translation of this “new” interpretation of the Dominican identity, the gastronomic space Ligao. It is conceived under the design parameters that show the conclusions of this research.
