Nivel de conocimiento de los padres sobre la erupción del primer molar permanente en pacientes odontopediátricos de la Clínica Odontológica UNIBE

Abstract

[Español] El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo principal determinar el nivel de conocimiento de los padres sobre la erupción del primer molar permanente en pacientes odontopediátricos. Se realizó un estudio no experimental de tipo descriptivo, donde se aplicó un cuestionario para la recolección de datos. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 37 padres, madres y/o tutores. Los resultados mostraron que el nivel de conocimiento de los padres y/o tutores sobre la erupción del primer molar permanente es regular, ya que el 70.3% respondió que la edad de erupción del primer molar permanente es de 8 años o más. Además, que el nivel de educación no está relacionado con el conocimiento de la cronología de erupción, ya que el 54.1% de los padres, madres y/o tutores presentan un nivel de educación técnica y/o superior al igual que aquellos con educación primaria o secundaria. Los padres y/o tutores consideran que el uso de pasta dental y cepillo dental es suficiente a la hora de realizar el cepillado a sus hijos/as. Los padres y/o tutores señalan que por el medio en donde más obtienen información sobre salud bucal es por las visitas frecuentes al odontólogo y las redes sociales. En conclusión, el nivel de conocimiento de los padres sobre la erupción del primer molar permanente es regular y el nivel de educación no está relacionado con el conocimiento sobre la cronología de erupción.

[English] The main objective of the present study was to determine the level of knowledge of parents about the eruption of the first permanent molar in pediatric dentistry patients. A descriptive non-experimental study was carried out, where a questionnaire was applied to collect data. The study population consisted of 37 fathers, mothers and / or guardians. The results showed that the level of knowledge of parents and / or guardians about the eruption of the first permanent molar is regular, since 70.3% answered that the age of eruption of the first permanent molar is 8 years or more. In addition, the level of education is not related to the knowledge of the eruption chronology, since 54.1% of the parents and / or guardians present a level of technical and / or higher education as well as those with primary education or high school. Parents and / or guardians consider that the use of toothpaste and toothbrush is sufficient when brushing their children. Parents and / or guardians point out that the means where they obtain the most information on oral health is through frequent visits to the dentist and social networks. In conclusion, the level of knowledge of the parents about the eruption of the first permanent molar is regular and the level of education is not related to the knowledge about the eruption chronology.
