[English] The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence parents have on their children's school performance, taking into account whether or not parents have a need for specific support that may interfere with their learning. It was an analytical-documentary and field study, with an approach to qualitative methods from primary and secondary sources. As for the theoretical references to the role that parents play in the education of their children, the authors raise different theories about the aspects involved in school performance. Research has shown that parents play a decisive role in academic performance, because their accompaniments, permanence and dedication during this process are factors that make it possible to achieve expected results, as well as improve the emotional part, such as self-esteem, self-control and in turn create habits and disciplines leading them to be able to integrate into society. Findings found through research interviews with different participants reflected that parents significantly influence their children's learning or academic performance. This is why the child's school development is influenced by personal, cognitive, affective and contextual factors that occur within the family and the school environment. Likewise, the results reveal that parents and teachers play an undoubted role in the academic performance of children in terms of their integral development as a human being, while specialists move to the background and may intervene in a particular or specific way at some point that they need it.
