[English] Objective: The aim of this paper is to create a protocol in order to assess the number of patients who entered the periodontal maintenance phases program attended at UNIBE undergraduate level from January 2010 to March 2020. Introduction: Periodontal disease (PD) is a chronic inflammatory condition of associated etiology. to dysbiotic biofilms. After finishing an active periodontal treatment, it is necessary to have a follow-up so as not to endanger the results obtained after the treatment, however, the challenge lies in patients adhering to this 3rd period. phase. The American Academy of Periodontology in its 2011 glossary defines dental maintenance as a procedure that is performed at intervals in order to help the periodontal patient maintain good oral health. Discussion: Delatola et al. highlight that 56% of a total of 218 patients evaluated over a period of 20 months, abandon the APT, thus obtaining that only 10.5% persist with them. (45) The World Health Organization (WHO) in its 2001 meeting report establishes that the word adherence corresponds to those medical regulations to which a patient submits, being committed both to the active treatment of the disease, as well as the therapy of maintenance. Conclusion: Each of the articles related to periodontal maintenance, highlight the importance of maintenance therapy to avoid recurrence of periodontal disease; there is no successful periodontal treatment without supportive periodontal therapy, because clinical parameters can only be maintained over time with the intervention of the professional through TPA. Therefore, the individual risk of each patient must be determined, in order to establish the appropriate appointments according to their periodontal condition.
