dc.description.abstract[English] We carried out a non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a retrospective source of information, in order to determine the incidence of hypertensive emergency in patients with an evolving Cerebrovascular Event, in the Emergency Room of the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud in the period of January 2018 - January 2019. The information was collected from the records of the patients in the hospital database, with a structured questionnaire of 8 questions. A population of 200 patients in hypertensive crisis were found, of which 23 had an evolving cerebrovascular event. The age range of highest incidence was 31-50 years and older than 70 years with 34.8% each. The gender with the highest incidence was male with 52.2%. The most frequent risk factors that the patients presented were arterial hypertension for 34.8% followed by arterial hypertension with previous cerebrovascular event with 26.1%. 52.2% presented blood pressure levels of 171/110mmHg-199/110mmHg. 65.2% did not receive any therapy in the emergency room and the prevailing antihypertensive was Captorpil with 52.2% followed by labetalol with 30.4%. The prevailing time in the decrease in blood pressure was greater than 12 hours for 39.1% . 34.8% of these patients were admitted to the clinical ward and 21.7% to the ICU. The patients who died correspond to 8.7% and those who were transferred to another center were 8.7%.-
